Frontier Trails
Leadership In Training

Part 1 – Leadership Training & Personal Development CIT’s will have a lesson each day with the CIT director. Such topics covered are Camp Procedures and Policy, Skill sessions training, and counseling information. This allows CIT’s to have a greater understanding of Frontier Trails Camp and its program. Part 2 – Activity Skills CIT’s will be given opportunity to teach and assist teaching campers in various camp activity skills, such as: Horseback riding, Waterfront activities, archery, Mt Biking, Crafts, trampoline, etc. CIT’s will have to create, organize, and carry through with a program. This will allow CIT’s to learn from the staff and to experience leadership hands on, and to use the different teaching methods and skills that were previously learned in the LIT course. Part 3 – Bible Instruction and Preparation Time CIT’s will have devotions with the CIT director that will cover topics such as: teamwork, leadership examples, etc. This will also be a time where the CIT’s can prepare for teaching or assisting a skill session activity. These creative studies from the Bible will give a deeper understanding of the Christian faith. Part 4 – Counseling CIT’s will gain practical experience by assisting Counselors in a Cabin setting for a portion of their course. Counseling will provide a hands-on leadership experience for the CIT’s, as junior counselors. This is also a great opportunity to practice teamwork and to learn from the experience of Senior Counselors. Part 5 – Evaluation CIT’s will have an informal mid-course evaluation to discuss their position and progress to be encouraged, and also to determine areas for improvement for the remainder of the course. There will also be a formal evaluation at the end of the course. This will encompass the 4-week period, and is designed to help CIT’s to reach their potential in leadership positions. **CIT’s who successfully complete their course will be awarded a certificate of completion from Frontier Trails Camp. ** Please Note that the CIT course is a great opportunity for those who are planning on applying for future camp employment, either at Frontier Trails Camp or elsewhere. ** Former campers and LIT graduates are given first priority for the CIT course.
